Secondhand Book

from Sometimes It Is by Porcelain Pill

/

lyrics

I'm writing in the back of this book.
If only I could spell your name.
It's not like it's a first edition anyway.

If you gave me something clean to write on
It really wouldn't feel the same.
I'd call you but I lost your number days ago.

I don't even know who wrote this book but all the illustrations
Show me all the things I need to know about life's complications.
I write all my best ideas in tiny words within the margins
and one day I will mail this book to you.

Maybe I destroy the meanings when i rearrange the words
You really can't have one without the other one.
So give me more than ones and zeros
Tear me from a flickering screeen
And we can glue our books together into one.

I don't even know who wrote this book but all the illustrations
Show me all the things I need to know about life's complications.
I write all my best ideas in tiny words within the margins
and one day I will mail this book to you.
